HGTV Update

It has been a few weeks since the Pilot aired for HGTV. We weren’t given a time frame on when we would hear back from the network on whether or not we got the show. So we waited a week, and then another week, and then as the weeks went by we honestly stopped thinking about it.

Well, we finally heard from our producer and we were absolutely shocked when he told us that HGTV wanted 12 more episodes of Fixer Upper. We couldn’t believe what we were hearing as they went into detail about the ratings and the nationwide response. It’s been two weeks since we found out (we couldn’t go public about it until now) and it still hasn’t set in. All I know is that it’s going to be exciting, crazy, and an adventure like no other. We are going to need a lot of prayer as we juggle our family, our business, and the show for the next few months!

I forgot what it was like with all this going on. We are going to have to get used to this again…

Here are the details, we start at the end of August and complete filming in March 2014. We will be renovating 12 homes in Waco and the surrounding communities, Dallas/Ft Worth, and Austin. The network is about to put out a casting call for these locations. If you or anyone you know is looking to buy a fixer upper in these areas, please tell them to contact us at We would love to be a part of your renovation!

I can’t wait to share in this journey with you on my blog! Stay tuned for more details coming soon…

Your show is so captivating. I love it. I wish I lived near you so I could have a Fixer Upper. Your design is so refreshing, modern but classic. It seems so comfortable. There are a couple things I wonder about each show. Do you also do the heating and air conditioning in your budget? I always wonder what those costs are because they would be pretty expensive. Also, do your clients get to keep the staging you have done to their house? To me your design is what really brings the entire home together. Keep up the great work! When your show is on HGTV, I am glued to the television.

I love everything about Fixer Upper! Chip and Joanna are both great at what they do. The show is quite entertaining. (Chip is too funny) love the dynamics and the finished product in each episode makes me wish I lived in TX.
    Keep the episodes coming…. Please.

    Chip & Joanna,
My family and I enjoy your show so much. We absolutely love and appreciate that you include your whole family in your business. We are a military family awaiting what may be our final orders in the service. San Antonio, TX is on our list of possible assignments. If we are sent back to TX, you’ll be hearing from us!

I absolutely love your show. The blend of family and work and how you balance them both (at least on the show) is very inspiring. I would love for you to come and do your magic on my house. I live in Oklahoma but would still be worth the money to get your touch on my little house. Keep up the good work and I will keep my DVR tuned in!!

Love the show and the creativity but come on people. You’re supposed to be professionals. Everyone has contingency set asides in their budget for the inevitable surprises. And you should be able to see things when you walk through that are obvious, like needing to upgrade electrical, GFCIs etc. other than that love the show. And it’s nice to see someone doing homes in our area.

Great show. ONE complaint that I think might be one that may have some weight. Chip needs to stop saying “babe” “baby” every other minute. Super annoying and cheesey. I am not jealous in a happy healthy relationship, just seems a bit tacky. MOSTLY love the show and they both have impeccable taste!!! I would love to keep watching but won’t be able to do so if the “baby” isn’t put in a corner. Harr.

Love the show. Amazing what you can do within the budget you get. We need more honest hardworking renovators like you guys. Too many prey on unsuspecting homeowners and take their money and never finish the job. I wish these two were doing business in my town.

I have forsaken all other home improvement shows! I love the positive, uplifting energy – no drama, no arguing, no competition, no fighting. Watching Chip and Joanna interact has influenced me to be more positive in my marriage. Proud to claim you both as fellow Texans!

Stumbled on to your show yesterday on HGTV. Loved the inspirational design ideas, but even better was the positive energy and low drama style. Way to go! Hope there is more to come.

Love your show! Don’t think there’s ever been a series like this where I’ve watched reruns! Keep doing what you’re doing.
